The creation of our perfect little paradise
We’re inspired by nature, fueled by our passion for food and eager to practice sustainable agriculture. That’s why we decided to create Petite Vallée. Our goal is to create a place where nature, people and food come together. A place where we can welcome guests to share our lifestyle, passion and food with.
We are Hans, Yasmin, Faas & Bowie. A Dutch family from Amsterdam. In 2018 we decided to quit our marketing- and manager jobs. We sat behind a computer screen all day and were not working from our hearts. We chose a new lifestyle and we traveled from Canada to Panama in a small campervan. An amazing experience, but shocking at times. We have seen and learned a lot about the tremendous impact our current food system has on our beautiful world and it's incredible biodiversity.
What is the impact of the food we eat? Where does it come from? How has it been grown or made? These were the questions that kept chasing us. We felt we had to gain more knowledge about the way food could be grown in a sustainable way. In Guatemala, we completed a truly inspiring Permaculture Design Course. Permaculture is a philosophy of working with instead of against nature. It is an innovative framework for creating sustainable ways of living. This changed our route, things began to fell into place.
We decided to go back to Europe to map out our ideas and to find the perfect location for our project. That summer, we both lost our hearts in the Dordogne. The amazing and diversified landscapes, the deeply rooted food culture and the ‘joie de vivre’ made us fall in love.
Petite Vallée was born…
We stumbled upon a beautiful little valley in the heart of the ‘fairytale like’ Perigord Noir. A land of dense oak forests, winding rivers and famous for it’s incredible food. There is so much to do and explore in the area, but at the same time you feel far away from it all in our peaceful little valley. Petite Vallée offers two charming stone built houses that scatter the property. They enjoy incredible privacy. And two lovely safaritents for a genuine glamping experience under the stars. A swimmingpool provides a fresh dip in the warm summers. In the middle of it all you will find the permaculture garden that provides organic and home grown produce for our table d’hôtes menu twice a week.
